How do I know God's will for my life?
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
Here's something nobody tells you: God's will isn't a hidden treasure map you have to decode. It's not some secret message buried in signs and coincidences. It's way more personal than that.
The Bible talks about God's will in two ways. There's the big will โ that you love God, love people, and live with integrity. That part? Already clear. Then there's the specific stuff โ which school, which job, which city. And here's the thing: God gives you more freedom there than you probably think.
Think about it like this: a good parent doesn't micromanage every decision their kid makes. They raise them with values, show them love, teach them wisdom โ and then trust them to make choices. God's the same way. He's less interested in controlling your next move and more interested in who you're becoming through the process.
Practically? Here's how discernment actually works: Pay attention to what breaks your heart (that's often a clue about your calling). Look at where your skills and the world's needs overlap. Seek advice from people who genuinely know and love you. Pray โ but then actually move. And give yourself grace to get it wrong sometimes, because God can work with imperfect choices too.
God's will isn't a single hidden path you might miss โ there's more freedom in it than you think
The 'big' will (love God, love people) is already clear โ start there
Discernment grows as you walk, not just as you wait
What breaks your heart is often a signal about your calling
